Wendy's revised (descriptive writing)

It was an arid and cold day as i had just finished a very long hard day at work. Coming out of work i had many things in mind but the most important of them all was getting home, suddenly my stomach churned and growled when I had remembered I had nothing to eat all day. It didn't take long for me to make a decision and I started walking towards my destination I went a few blocks away from my job to Wendy's. Approaching a set of enormous revolving doors I pushed as I walked into the brightly lit restaurant. Getting online was a hassle because the place was really crowded. From the back of my ears I hear a voice say next while I'm online and immediately my eyes scatter through the diagrams that show the menu before it is my turn to order. Glancing at the board my decision was quickly a number 4. When the man behind the counter yelled "Next" again it was my turn, I went to the cashier and quickly said "Hi i would like a medium number 4 with a pepsi" and he nodded his head when I then gave him the money and he handed me my change. Once I ordered the cashier went back and took a plastic where he then stood next to a machine with a many buttons, he had pressed two buttons one for the ice and the other one for the soda and handed me the cup where I had waited until my food was ready. I received rectangular brown colored tray with a box of golden fries and burger wrapped in shiny aluminum. I sat down by the window and unwrapped my burger and the smell of a freshly baked batch of buns suddenly hit my nose. As I picked up the burger it was as if someone had made me squish on a really warm pillow. Taking my first bite everything went silent and opening my eyes I saw a burger that had 3/4 of it bitten already when suddenly I grabbed a napkin in order to wipe the grease off of my fingers. As I ate the burger a feeling of excitement rushed through me and when I was finally done I threw away the remaining portion of the meal, which was the point where I realized a huge ketchup stain on my jeans.

Response of Schlosser's fast food nation 1.2

Reading the second chapter of Schlosser's fast food nation i came to realize many historical between business giants that I could have never imagined happening. The book describes how Ray Kroc and the creator of Disney world, Walt Disney had many competitive issues. At first McDonald's started out like any other old regular hamburger place and slowly got recognized by many people and even went as far to attract the president of the United States. Many marketing plans were put to the test in order to attract more customers ie: the happy meal. McDonald's basically tried to bring in more customers by targeting children because if they attracted a kid their parents would buy their food and there would also be two extra customers. Children also tend to nag their parents about something they want until they get it and this is the case for McDonald's because their ad campaigns were solely focused for the attraction of kids as customers which is something that goes on today on a much larger scale. Also by making different contracts with different companies fast food places are able to promote their products in a more enticing way and one example would be a tamagotchi toy which at a certain time was included in a happy meal toy.

Descriptive writing assignment

Approaching the glass swivel doors a freckled red-headed girl greets me with an enormous smile. Walking inside is total change of ambience and vibe, all of the worries scatter through my head and all i can think of is which of all the items am i getting. Looking at the brightly lit diagrams showing the food i stare with a ponderous gaze. Seeing the huge machine behind the cash register with many buttons the soda is poured into a tall outlined paper cup. A brown plastic tray with a picture on it is handed to me with a refreshing pepsi soda with an aluminum surprise sitting beside it and golden fries to finish off the whole ideally utopian meal.

Menus in restaurants

I was reading through the paper and came across this article, which said that new laws are requiring restaurants to post nutrition on their menus. Also vending machines are being taken out of public schools something which I wasn't informed of. At the end I have posted a URL where this article can be viewed online. I think this will affect many restaurants like McDonalds because in all reality if their food is really greasy then they will have a really tough time portraying to their consumers that the food isn't as fattening.

In the article written by Denise Grady the troubled question of whether BPA is dangerous or not it clearly debated. BPA is a chemical found in many plastic household items such as water bottles, toys for babies, babies bottles etc. The main reason why this question is being more brought up now is basically because its been disregarded. BPA hasn’t been proven to harm any human yet so no one really knows whether it harmful to humans, however majority of Americans have BPA inside of them because of all the bottled liquids they drink. Senator Dianne Feinstein hopes to pass an amendment next week on the food safety bill hopefully banning the use of BPA on baby products, water bottles, cans etc.

McDonald's got a diet?

As I was going around reading stuff through the paper on my greatly boring day I came across a very unusual article. The biggest fast food chain in the world has decided to target a new kind of customers. Surprisingly an animal which some people consider pests. McDonald's has decided to go after none other than the Pogonomyrmex badius ant.

This was just a small picture i was able to find online that shows the colony of ants basically being led to the food. I could only imagine the dangers that this "diet" has on the small little guys judging from the long term impact they have on us.
Those must be some good fries :D.

Welcome to food ethics with jesus

Hey everyone,

My name is Jesus Pichardo. I currently attend LaGuardia community college and I'm 17 years old. I live in Manhattan and plan to go to a 4 year institution after leaving LaGuardia. The essential reason why this blog was created is basically to talk about different food topics, habits, misconceptions etc. Some of my eating habits i consider to be very common in certain ways and it's also for a food ethics class. At home i don't cook or anything of that nature simply because i feel like it can be a waste of my time in a way if the result may be disastrous.

However, shopping for groceries is something I do but it's not on a regular day basis. Whenever i do go to the supermarket by my house called Whole Foods I buy stuff other people would consider awkward for grocery shopping. I buy cookies, candy and different kinds of sweets but the store also does sell healthy food but I don't bury myself in those aisles. My favorite kind of food is fast food not one specific fast food because there are so many to choose from and most of the time i'm outside so it's close and real cheap.

My only favorite food is Subway's and the reason why is because I can put anything i want on it. As of now I don't know much about where the food I eat comes from but I expect to learn as i move on in the course. Thanks for viewing.
